THOSE GHOSTS are an up-and-coming alternative four-piece hailing from Strabane, Northern Ireland, consisting of Aodhan Doherty (Vocals and Guitar), Gerard Brolly (Guitar), Danny McCay (Bass) and Shane Coyle (Drums). Relatively new to the scene with only a handful of gigs under their belts, Those Ghosts have already earned themselves a loyal fan base and reputation as one of Northern Ireland's bands to watch out for by winning first place in Chordblossom's impressive Kickstart competition in April 2013. Officially forming in October 2012 as a result of a well-timed drunken conversation, the band wasted no time in pumping out their debut EP to an eager audience who gave it over 2000 plays in its first week of release. Working alongside Mark Donnelly in Garage Recording Studios, Co Donegal, the band have recorded a promising catalogue of songs including "White", "Explain" and fan-favourite "Evelyn". Influenced by acts like Biffy Clyro, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Foo Fighters, their sound is a powerful blend of monster riffs, lasting melodies, zealous bass lines, thumping drum beats and sleek vocals. Those Ghosts headlined their very first gig to a sell-out crowd of over 200 people in Dicey Riley's, Strabane on 16th March 2013 with support from local hip-hop artist Gerardi2. The band went on to support renowned local bands Pretty Child Backfire and The 1930's. With over 1000 hits (and counting) on Youtube, the band released their video for "Evelyn" towards the end of March 2013. With no signs of slowing down, Those Ghosts are steamrolling towards a summer of festival shows including slots at the legendary Glasgowbury Festival and Carnival of Colours International Festival in Derry/Londonderry this year. The band are due to record their latest single in Millbank Studios, Lisburn, which will be unleashed with full force following the release of their eagerly awaited second EP in May of this year. Riding on the tidal wave of opportunities that being crowned winners of Chordblossom's Kickstart competition has brought the band, 2013 is set to be the year for Those Ghosts. An encouraging start for what's set to be another promising talent from the ever-impressive Northern Irish music scene. Watch this space!
